چکیده

Distal humeral fractures are among the most challenging injuries to treat. Although precise repair of articular surface is essential during surgery, accurate reconstruction metaphysis contributes overall stability fracture construct. The intraosseous wiring technique has been used for small-fragment fractures. However, its efficacy as an adjunct distal humerus fixation yet be thoroughly investigated. This study aimed demonstrate applicability this comminuted In retrospective case series, we describe six cases intra-articular treated with technique, followed by dual plating. We observed successful bone union in all patients, Mayo elbow performance scores indicating good excellent clinical outcomes procedure at final follow-up. believe that should integral part toolbox every surgeon because it a relatively simple and highly effective requires no special instrument can on various types

Acutrak fixation of comminuted distal radial fractures.

The authors describe a new technique of fixation of comminuted displaced distal radial fractures in young adults. A 40-year-old man fell from a ladder and injured his wrist. He sustained a comminuted fracture of the distal radius. The fracture was opened through a volar incision and the three rotated, unreduced fragments were reduced and fixed with three Acutrak (Acumed Inc., Beaverton, OR, USA...

DISPLACED- COMMINUTED INTRAARTICULAR FRACTURES OF THE ADULT DISTAL HUMERUS: FUNCTIONAL RESULTS AFTER INTERNAL FIXATION

Background: Intra-articular T- type or Y- type fractures of the distal end of the humerus are relatively rare, and consequently few surgeons will be able to attain extensive experience with the surgical treatment of these injuries. The current emphasis is on operative intervention with rigid internal fixation and early mobilization. Methods: In this prospective and retrospective study, we r...

Distal humerus hemiarthroplasty of the elbow for comminuted distal humeral fractures in the elderly patient.

BACKGROUND The purpose of our study was to evaluate the objective and subjective outcomes, as well as the radiographic results after elbow hemiarthroplasty (HA) for comminuted distal humerus fractures in elderly patients. METHODS Ten female patients with a mean age of 75.2 years were treated with elbow HA either for osteoporotic, comminuted distal humerus fractures (n = 8) or for early failed...

Hemiarthroplasty for comminuted proximal humeral fractures.

PURPOSE To evaluate early functional outcomes of hemiarthroplasty for 3- or 4-part proximal humeral fractures. METHODS 16 men and 11 women aged 27 to 83 (mean, 56) years underwent hemiarthroplasty for comminuted 3-part (n=13) or 4-part (n=14) proximal humeral fractures. All the patients reported normal shoulder function prior to injury. The range of shoulder motion and muscle power were evalu...

Humeral Supracondylar Fractures in Children: A Novel Technique of Lateral External Fixation and Kirschner Wiring

Introduction: Supracondylar fracture of the humerus is the most common fracture around the elbow in children. Pinning with Kirschner wires (K-wires) after open or closed reduction is generally accepted as the primary treatment modality. However, it comes with the risk of persistent instability and if the K-wire is not inserted properly, it may cause displacement and varus deformity. We present ...
